The Hush Post: The Bharat Bandh call made on social media, to counter April 2 protests held to protest alleged dilution of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act met with mixed responses in Ludhiana. While there seemed little impact of the Bharat Bandh in the morning in Ludhiana, towards the afternoon, the protesters started shutting shops in parts of Ludhiana.
It all started from Chaura Bazar where one by one the shop owners were asked to shut their shops. Slowly, the protesters moved to Gud Mandi, Kitab Bazar, Dal Bazar, Sabun Bazar.
Salem Tabri, Basti Jodhewal and other nearby areas also observed bandh supporting Bharat Bandh. While most of the areas in and around Jalandhar bypass were partially or fully closed, shops in other parts of Ludhiana like Sarbhanagar, Malhar Road, Ferozepur Road, Model Town were open for business.
