A 20-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by 12 men at a farmhouse near Jagraon, Ludhiana, Punjab. On Monday, the Punjab Police conducted raids at various places in Ludhiana district. However, no arrests have been made so far.
According to the victim’s complaint, she and her male friend was travelling in a car around 8 pm from South City area of Ludhiana city towards Issewal village on Saturday night, when a group of five men pelted stones on the car and stopped them. The attackers, then beat up the man (male friend) and took the car to a farmhouse near Jagraon town.
The man was beaten up and asked to bring Rs 2 lakh. He called his friend and asked him to bring money. But, when his friend approached the police following the call, the police did not take immediate action.
Initially, the accused who were five in number called seven others and all of them raped the woman. However, the couple were set free on Sunday following which they made a complaint to the police regarding the gang-rape and the abduction.
The accused are still at large. A case of rape have been registered against the unidentified accused at the Mullanpur Dhaka police station. Police officials said that raids were being conducted to nab the people behind the heinous crime. They are also trying to scan the CCTV footage to identify the accused.
Meanwhile, the victim has also demanded action against the cops on duty.
