Armed robbers rob Ludhiana octogenarian woman of Rs 6 lakh at gunpoint

The Hush Post: Three armed robbers robbed Rs. 6 lakh from an 85-year old woman in Ludhiana on Friday. They fled without harming her in her house in Shimlapuri locality of the city. The robbers entered in the house impersonating as the friends of her grandson. The robbers locked the house from outside while fleeing.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP, City-2) Surender Lamba and Shimlapuri SHO Davinder Singh reached the spot. They initiated the investigation. The police have registered an FIR against unidentified accused at Shimlapuri police station.

Jagannath (67), of Chimni Road in Shimlapuri, said that his son Prince is an accountant in an Auto Mobile company. On Friday, three men knocked at the door with a box of sweets in their hand. They introduced them as friends of Prince. One of them said that he has become the father and in celebration, he is distributing sweets among relatives and friends.

The accused flashed a gun and asked the elderly lady to give them cash

Jagannath said that he invited them to the house for a cup of tea. At that time he along with his wife Kamlesh and mother Amro Devi were present at the house. His mother is bed-ridden.

“After entering in the house the accused asked me to bring water for them. As he went towards the kitchen the accused barged in the room where my mother was laying on the bed. The accused flashed a gun and asked my mother to hand over the bag containing the cash to them,” Jagannath said.

“My mother resisted, but the accused snatched bag containing Rs 6 lakh from her and fled. I came to know about it when my mother raised alarm. I fled after them but to no avail, as they have locked the main gate from outside,” he added.

He further added that he called up his neighbours for opening the door and informed the police.

SHO Davinder Singh said that the police came to know that the accused have fled on a motorcycle. The police are scanning CCTVs installed in the area to identify the accused.

He added that the accused had an idea about the house and its members. Without wasting time they entered the room where the cash was kept. The police are suspecting involvement of some acquaintance in the robbery.
