The Hush Post: Declared unsafe, the Chand Cinema bridge was closed down for commuters without prior notice late night on Monday. The commuters coming from Jalandhar bypass side and going to Ghanta Ghar side had a harrowing time in the sweltering heat when they saw the  barricades on the road. It led to a traffic jam on the road, with people finally coming out of their vehicles and manually lifting the barricades. Many commuters had a one-on-one scuffle with the policemen who tried to stop them.

The traffic was diverted on the to the new bridge where a lot of chaos and a big traffic jam ensued with the never-ending queue of vehicles extending as far as the Salem Tabri chowk.

The traffic police officials said that they had orders from the Deputy Commissioner and claimed that it was a trial run to check how much traffic is disrupted if traffic diverted through the under pass.

On the other hand, even after 12 days the mud report of the Gill flyover, which has already been closed for traffic due to falling of the retaining wall, has not been submitted by the administration. The samples had been sent to the GNE college. A team of officials had been formed by the DC to submit a report within 15 days.

The case related to the encroachments under the Jagraon bridge is to come up for hearing tomorrow.
