Father-son duo booked for attempting rape on married woman in Ludhiana

The Hush Post, Ludhiana: The local police have booked a tractor driver and his son for allegedly trying to rape a married migrant woman while her husband was away to their native state.

This tractor driver is a 55-year-old man and his son is 24-year-old, The Times of India reported.

The victim woman, a 30-year-migrant from Uttar Pradesh, has told the police in her complaint that her husband had gone to their native state and on February 11 this year when she was alone, the father-son duo forcible entered her house. First the man and then his son tried to rape her, the victim told the police, the daily reported.

The victim woman said that her husband works as a labourer in the city and that time he had gone to Uttar Pradesh in connection with some work. When the duo tried to rape her, she resisted their attempt and was thrashed for that, the report said.

The police said the woman has reported that she somehow managed to get herself free from the clutches of the assailants and after coming out of her house, she shouted for safety at this the accused made good their escape, the report said.

However, the police said it was best known to the victim that why did she lodge a complaint on March 16 while the incident took place on February 11. After an inquiry, an FIR was registered in this regard on Saturday.

The father-son duo has been booked under sections 376 and 511 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Investigating officer (IO) in this case, assistant sub inspector (ASI) Prithpal Singh reportedly said the accused were absconding and police were conducting raids to nab them.

The accused knew the woman and her family for years as both the victim lived in the house of driver’s brother. The accused were keeping a watch on the victim and were looking for an opportunity to sexually abuse her, a police official reportedly said.

The father-son duo also reportedly beat the victim up while trying to rape her. The accused used to have frequent fights with the victim’s family.
