The Hush Post: Commuters on the busy Ferozepur Road in Ludhiana had a tough time reaching their destinations as they were caught in a 6-km long traffic jam. The traffic which continues to persist due to the incessant two-hour continuous rain which inundated the roads.
These were the peak hours when people were getting back to their homes after work. It took about an hour-and-a-half for people to cover a distance of just about 2 km from the Verka plant to Westend Mall. The harried commuters were seen honking continuously to make way through the waterlogged roads.
“It’s been two hours, I have been sitting in the bus, we’ve been stuck in the traffic jam,” said Harmanpreet Kaur going to Mullanpur from Ludhiana. “I don’t know when I’ll reach home,” she said, worried.
Tarlochan Singh also a passenger said, “I have to reach Jagraon for some important work, I don’t know how will I reach.”
Vikas going to Moga said, “ I reached Ludhiana from Jalandhar in an hour and a half and now for the last two hours I am still stuck in Ludhiana.
Apart from Ferozepur road, a lot of water logging was witnessed in most parts of the city like the bus stand area, Sarabha Nagar, BRS Nagar, Model Town. The drainage system went for a toss because of the heavy rain. The weather is expected to remain cloudy through the weekend.
