Drug officers also seize habit-forming drugs from two medical stores of Ludhiana, issue them notices
The Hush Post, Ludhiana: To ensure the proper implementation of Mission “Tandrust Punjab”, the Health Department initiated a special inspection drive led by Drugs Control Officers who are conducting special checking of the medical stores under the mission.
Giving the details, Zonal Licensing Authority (Drugs) Dinesh Gupta said that the four teams including drug inspectors Sukhbir Chand, Roop Preet Kaur, Ravi Gupta, Rupinder Kaur, Lajwinder Kumar, and Sandeep Kaushal have conducted inspections in 43 medical stores in various areas of the district and has procured 16 samples of the drugs in the drive that had started on June 11.
He said that the teams have also seized the habit-forming drugs from the two chemist shops and notices have been issued to them.
He further said that the drug samples have been sent to state Lab Kharar and action will be taken accordingly.
Gupta added that the special drive would continue in coming days too and claimed that that the health department is committed for making mission ‘Tandarust Punjab’ a huge success in the district.
He said that a stern action will be taken against the medical stores for not following the drug laws.
Meanwhile, to make the people conscious about their health under mission ‘Tandrust Punjab’, the district sports department has installed open-air gyms in city’s eight parks worth Rs 32 lakh having equipment for major exercises.
District Sports Officer (DSO) Kartar Singh said that open-air gyms with six various machines have been installed in Atam Park backside police post, Golden Park in Janta Nagar, Corner Park near Kartar Chowk, park near Sukhmani Sahib Gurdwara ward-44, Jhulle Wali Park, Lambi Park in Model Town, Gulati Park worth Rs 26 lakh while another gym having 11 types of equipment has been set up in Police line ward-54 at the cost of Rs 6.46 lakh.
Singh said that the people have given very energetic response to the gyms and in the coming days, the department will install such gyms in the parks mission “Tandrust Punjab”.
The DSO solicited fulsome support and maximum participation of the people in the programme to make the huge success in Ludhiana.
