The Hush Post: Anshdeep Singh Bhatia, a Sikh boy born in Ludhiana, has been inducted into the security squad of US President Donald Trump. Anshdeep’s family had moved from Kanpur to Ludhiana after the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. From Ludhiana, the family had migrated to the United States.
Anshdeep’s grandfather, Sardar Amrik Singh used to work as a manager with the Punjab & Sind Bank in Kamal Govind Nagar in Barra, Kanpur. Amrik Singh had lost his younger brother and a close relative during the anti-Sikh riots. Amrik Singh’s elder son and Anshdeep’s father, Devender also received bullet injuries during the riots. Devender got married in Ludhiana and later left for the US in 2000. Anshdeep was 10 years old that time.
Anshdeep was inducted last week after completing his training in the US. The major hurdle which Anshdeep faced for getting inducted to the President’s security detail was that he had to change his looks. However, Anshdeep fought a legal battle and the court ruled in his favour.
Anshdeep is the first Sikh to be inducted into the President’s security fleet.
