The Hush Post: Thirty-four-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped on Tuesday in the midst of an armed robbery at Mangli village at Focal Point, Ludhiana.
Twelve armed robbers entered the metal factory at Mangli village and drove away with metal worth ₹10 lakh, the police said. Apart from robbery, workers said that a woman who was there was also raped by six robbers while others held her husband.
Apart from the one raped, another two women locked themselves in the room to save themselves from the robbers who remained in the factory for an hour,” the factory owner said. According to the factory owners, the workers reside inside the factory.
The workers informed the owner about the robbery following which he apprised the cops. “The workers told me that they were sleeping when robbers barged into the factory after scaling the compound wall and overpowered them. They held them captive and tied their hands and legs with rope,” the owner Narinder Singh informed.
On receiving the compliant, the Focal Point police has registered a case under sections 392 (punishment for robbery), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 120-B (punishment for criminal conspiracy), 376-D (gang rape) of the Indian Penal Code against unidentified 12 robbers and initiated investigation.
The factory owner told police that the robbers took away copper, nickel and other valuables from the factory worth ₹10 lakh. They put the material in a pick-up, which was parked outside the factory, and subsequently fled. After the miscreants left the factory, the women who had hidden themselves freed others. The police have, meanwhile, launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
