The Hush Post: In wake of rising crime incidents, motorcycle-borne three masked robbers robbed a jeweller of 200 gm gold jewellery and 10-kg silver in broad daylight in Giaspura on Saturday.
The accused held the jeweller captive at gunpoint and threatened him to kill. According to the jeweller, he incurred a loss of Rs. 10.50 lakh in the robbery.
The robbers remained in to shop for at least 20 minutes and fled after locking the jeweller in the locker room. After the robbers left the place the shopkeeper managed to open the shutter and raised alarm following which the neighbours informed the police.
The robbers have been captured in the CCTVs installed in the shop. On being informed the police reached the spot and initiated investigation. The police have procured CCTVs footage to identify the accused.
Jeweller Krishan Kumar Verma, of Bhagat Singh Colony of Sherpur Kalan said that he owns Shri Krishna Jewellers near Peepal Chowk in Giaspura. On Saturday afternoon at around 1 PM he was playing game on his mobile phone. Meanwhile a man with covered face entered in the shop. Following him his two accomplices, who have covered their faces with clothes also barged in the shop.
The accused pulled down the shutter of the shop and flashed a gun. The accused put the gun on his head and threatened him to keep mum. The accused robbed 200 gm gold jewellery and 10 kg silver, besides Rs 1,000 in cash and his mobile phone. The accused fled from the shop after locking him in locker room after tying his hands with piece of rope. While fleeing, the accused have pulled down the shutter.
The jeweller added that after the accused fled he managed to open the shutter and called on people for help.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP, city-2) Sandeep Sharma, said that the police have been trying to identify the accused. The police will solve the case soon. A case of robbery has been registered against the accused at police station Sahnewal.
