Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has ordered an inquiry into the incident. The gas cylinder exploded in Samrat Colony of Giaspura locality on Thursday.

As many as 29 persons were injured after a cylinder blast took place in Giaspura area of Ludhiana. The blast took place in Samrat colony in Giaspura on Thursday morning.

The blast was so strong that even the roof of the house got damaged. Only the walls remained in place. The injured were subsequently taken to Civil Hospital, Ludhiana. The seriously injured ones were referred to DMC and CMC, Ludhiana.

The incident took place when Sunita Yadav was cooking food in the morning. There was no electricity then at their place. However, reports suggest that the LPG cylinder had started leaking without Sunita realising it. The moment power came back, there was sudden explosion and Sunita’s clothes caught fire. Those who came to help also leapt up partially in flames, which is what explains injuries to several people.
