The Hush Post: Shops of Panna Singh Pakorewala, famous amongst Ludhianvis as ‘Pannu pakorewala’, were raided in Ludhiana on Thursday.
Officials of the Income Tax Department said that there were complaints of suppression of income. The raids began with his shop on Gill Road. The other shop ‘Pakora Outlet’ in Model Town was the next stop of the I-T team.
An Income Tax official was stationed at the cash counter of the Model Town outlet to monitor sales on Thursday so that an average could be found out.
Panna Singh had started a small shop on Gill Road in 1952. With time, its name and fame grew with his paneer pakoras and dahi bhalla becoming famous across Punjab.
Meanwhile, two premises in Millerganj belonging to Divyansh International, which deals in dry fruits, were also raided for suppression of income.
