The Hush Post: Councillor Gurdeep Singh Nittu’s son Jatinder Singh Sunny has been sent to 14-day judicial remand today. Sunny is accused in the Rinkle murder case. Earlier, after 22-year-old youth Jagdeep Singh Rinkle was beaten to death, Congress councillor Gurdip Singh Nitu’s son Jatinder Singh Sunny was arrested. Apart from Sunny, even the councillor was named in the FIR along with nine others.

The family has not cremated the body warning the police that if action was not taken within 24 hours they would sit on a dharna in front of the chief minister’s office with the dead body.

Sunny had earlier also made attempts on his life on February 24 and then again on March 7. According to Rinkle’s family members, he had complained to the police each time he was attacked by Sunny, but the police did not take any action. Gurwinder Singh, SHO, Division No.2 police station was subsequently suspended.

Rinkle had succumbed to injuries at a private hospital on Thursday night after Sunny and nine of his accomplices entered his house and thrashed him with iron rods in Amarpura. Rinkle was alone at home when Sunny and his friends entered the house.

Rivalry between Rinkle and Sunny dates back to 2017 Punjab Assembly elections when Rinkle worked for the BJP candidate.
