A 25-yr-old girl in Ludhiana suffered an acid attack by some unidentified youths in Ludhiana. The incident occurred at Tibba Road, Ludhiana at about 8 pm on Thursday night. The victim has been identified as Pushpa.
Two youth knocked at the gate of the house and called out the girl’s name. As soon as she came near, they splashed a 5-lt can containing acid on her.
Although she received 25 per cent burn injuries, her condition is critical as the maximum harm was caused on the chest. Some acid spilled into her mouth and different parts of her body till the feet have been affected.
The assailants had their faces covered. The girl was immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital, from where she was referred to the CMC Hospital. Her mother was home when the incident happened.
Notably, the girl had got engaged four days ago on November 12. The police are working on the angle of unrequited love.
The girl’s father works in a hosiery and she has two brothers.
The victim did her graduation and a tailoring course in Uttar Pradesh. She had come back to Ludhiana a few days ago and started her tailoring work from home.
The victim’s father told a Hindi national daily that on October 27 two boys had come to their house. They had bought a packet and said they wanted to get a suit stitched.
When the girl opened the packet, some kind of gas fumes came out of it and the girl started coughing. The boys immediately snatched the packet from her and ran away. The father said he had seen the same boys roaming around in their street.
