The Hush Post: The Ludhiana Police have booked a youth for allegedly raping his co-worker on the promise of marrying her. An FIR in this connection has been registered by the Jamalpur Police.

In her complaint given to the police, the 24-year-old victim said she was working in a company in Jandiali village where she met 26-year-old accused Vikas Kumar who hailed from the same village, a report said.

The complainant told the police that the accused Vikas Kumar befriended her and established physical relations with her promising to marry her for over one- and-a-half years. When the victim asked the accused to marry her, Vikas Kumar refused to do so, after which the victim lodged an FIR against the accused, the report said.

Investing officer of the case, Veena Rani, an assistant sub inspecto (ASI), said the police have registered a case under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against accused Vikas Kumar. The police have started a hunt for the accused, the report said.
