The three-year long marriage had run into rough weather after Mantu started suspecting Radhina’s character
The Hush Post: A Ludhiana court today sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment a man who had murdered his wife just because he doubted her character. The court of Sessions Judge Gurbir Singh also imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 on the convict.
Mantu Kumar of Kanganwal village, Sahnewal had strangulated to death his 20-year-old wife, Radhina. The three-year long marriage had run into rough weather after Mantu started suspecting Radhina’s character. He used to beat her up frequently.
Mantu Kumar was booked under Section 302 of the IPC at Sahnewal police station on the complaint of Abhilesh Singh, brother of the deceased.
Abhilesh Singh told the court that after marriage the couple was residing with him at Neelu Da Vehra in Kanganwal, Sahnewal. Abhilesh said in his testimony that he had heard shrieks from Radhina’s room at 3 am on November 30, 2015. When he reached the room he saw Mantu strangulating his sister. Upon seeing Abhilesh, Mantu fled the spot but Radhina had died by then.
Mantu Kumar had pleaded innocence but the court found the evidence on record against him.
