Accused, aided by his brother in law killed his brother by giving him overdose of drug in Bishenpura village of Doraha to become sole owner of property
The Hush Post: The police in Ludhiana district have arrested a man for killing his own brother to become the sole owner of their family property. In this crime, accused’s brother in law helped him.
The accused, identified as a 32-year-old Hapreet Singh, with his brother in law Simarjit Singh allegedly killed his 31-year-old brother Ramandeep Singh by giving him overdose of drug in Bishenpura village of Doraha falling under Ludhiana district. He reportedly did so to become the sole owner of their family property, Times of India reported.
Ramandeep was found dead in his Bishenpura village house on April 14 morning.
“In a police complaint, their cousin Jagtar Singh of Alaud, Amloh, pointed the finger of suspicion at Harpreet and Simarjeet. Ramandeep had four acres of farm land and was not married. As Harpreet was his only sibling, he would have been the sole beneficiary of Ramandeep’s property after him,” TOI quoted Payal DSP Rashpal Singh Dhindsa as saying.
Both Harpreet Singh and Simarjeet Singh were under the police scanner from ever since Ramandeep’s death. “Simarjeet claimed that he found Ramandeep dead when he went to his house at 5am. Some documents, cards and the recordings of CCTV cameras installed at the house were missing. Simarjeet’s visit timings made police suspicious,” the police officer was quoted as having said.
Both Harpreet Singh and Simarjeet Sing were arrested from near Mallipur bridge on GT Road, the report said.
As per police said Simarjeet, resident of Kaddo village in Doraha, had come out on parole from jail where he is serving sentece in a drug peddling case. “In the jail, Simarjeet had met Jaswinder Singh of Bhikhi, Maloud. After obtaining the drug from Jaswinder’s aide, the two tied up a drunk Ramandeep and gave him its overdose on the night of April 13. They later threw his body outside his house,” the DSP was quoted by the daily.
The police said they would bring Jaswinder from jail on production warrant and book in this case. The police have registered a murder and disappearance of evidence against the accused.
Harpreet and Ramandeep’s father had been killed during terrorism in 1990s and their mother is reportedly missing for the last five years.
