Ludhiana has been put on high alert with police checkings being done at all crowded places in Ludhiana. Highly placed police officials told ANI “Bus stands and railway stations are being checked thoroughly”.
Inputs were received last month that JeM terrorists infiltrated in Punjab through Ferozpur. Posters of terrorist Zakir Moosa were also released which have been pasted across all major towns in Punjab.
The Police apprehended he is well-acquainted with places and people in Punjab. Nearly a month ago, Intelligence agencies had alerted the Punjab police that six to seven JeM terrorists had been spotted near Ferozepur.
Moosa’s Punjab connection
Moosa’s original name is Zakir Rashid Bhat and he is considered a successor of slain militant Burhan Wani. He was a student of an institution in Mohali district from 2010 to 2013. However, Moosa left the institution after failing his exams. He joined the militant group Hizbul Mujahideen in the autumn of 2013 at the behest of his close friend, Idrees Moosa.
Hizb called him ‘Indian agent’
Moosa was announced as the head of the newly created organization and Al-Qaeda’s J&K cell called Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind on 27 July, 2017.
In an audio message released on August 31 2017, Musa attacked Pakistan for “betraying Kashmir jihad.” He had said that the objective of Al-Qaeda’s Kashmir cell was to clear it from the Pakistan government, army and their sponsored agents.
He also threatened to “liberate India” from the Hindus. Also, Hizbul Mujahideen put up posters in Sopore in September 2017 calling him an “Indian agent.” The Hizb claimed that he helped Indian security forces kill Kashmiris and asked pro-Hizb people to chase him to death.
