The Ludhiana Police have arrested the teenage sister for the murder of 5-year-old Ansh Kanojia of the city. The accused girl says she has no regret of killing her minor brother.

The police arrested Ansh’s 19-year-old sister Renu on Tuesday. The girl has confessed her crime. Renu said that Ansh used to follow her all around and not used to give her any space. She has said that Ansh used to abuse her and also lie to their parents about her.

The teenage accused said that she has no regret for her crime. The police have also come to know that the girl used to meet a boy of the same locality. The police are verifying his role also in the crime. Ansh was the only brother of three sisters.

Evidence pointed out the involvement of someone known to the family

ADCP (City 4) Rajveer Singh Boparai said that the evidence pointed out the involvement of someone known to the family. The police kept zeroing on all family members, neighbours, and relatives of the victim.

After the incident, the police spoke to the children with whom the boy was playing before going missing. It suggested that no one had kidnapped the minor boy. The police came to know that on October 6 the victim’s mother was going to a hospital to see an ailing relative. The minor boy was crying to go with her.

The ADCP added that Renu had pacified the boy luring him with chocolate and took her inside the house.

“On examining the body, we found the killer strangulated the boy with left hand and Renu is also left handed. When we questioned her in the presence of her parents, she confessed her crime,” said the ADCP.

“Renu said that no one was at home and it was an opportunity for her to get rid of her brother. She strangulated her to death inside the house and stuffed the dead body in a gunny bag and hid it under bed. She also removed clothes from the body to distract police. When her parents arrived home she told them that Ansh has not returned home,” the police officer said.

He further added that in wee hours on Sunday she took the gunny bag. She threw it out of the house and started crying.

Renu said that she had thrown the clothes of Ansh in a vacant plot adjoining to their house. The police have yet to recover the clothes.

The body of Ansh was found on October 7 outside his home in Amarjit Colony on Jagirpur Road. He was missing from October 6. The police had registered a case under section of 365 (kidnapping), 302 (murder) and 506 (Criminal intimidation) of IPC against unidentified accused. The cops had registered this case at Tibba Road police station on the complaint of father of the victim.
