The Hush Post: Two gangsters, suspected to be accomplices of Punjab’s most wanted criminal Vicky Gounder infamous for the Nabha jail break case, were killed and three were arrested after a shootout near a government school in Bathinda’s Gulabgarh village on Friday afternoon, police said. The five gangsters were travelling in a white Scorpio (PB 02 CX 8395) when they decided to split. Three of them stole a Fortuner (PB 13 AR 2222) at gunpoint near Bhucho, 10 km from Bathinda at 11am. The suspects then raced to Tungwali. Meanwhile, the police asked a Crime Investigation Agency team patrolling near Gulabgarh village for assistance which blocked the suspects’ way, resulting in a shootout. Three persons identified as Manpreet Singh Munna, Prabhdeep Singh Deep and Amritpal were wounded in the incident. Manpreet and Prabhdeep succumbed to their injuries at the Bathinda Civil Hospital while Amritpal is undergoing treatment. The other two suspects, identified as Gurvinder Ginda and Harvinder Bhinda, were arrested while they were trying to escape, police said.
A 9-mm pistol, .32-bore pistol and a .315-bore pistol were seized from the suspects, Inspector General of Police Mukhwinder Singh Chinna said. About two months ago, the injured gangster Amritpal Singh was freed by his associates from an Abohar court where he was produced in a murder case. All the five gangsters were members of Shera Khuban gang but after his death allegedly joined the Vicky Gounder gang.
The encounter comes two days after the arrest of gangster Darshan Singh Bhoora from a farmhouse at Khizrabad in Yamunanagar district. Yamunanagar SP Rajesh Kalia said the police had got a tip-off of Gounder’s presence at the farmhouse.
