Wife’s infidelity forces Ludhiana man to end life

The Hush Post: A 32-year-old farmer ended his life by jumping into Sutlej River. He took the extreme step due to his wife’s infidelity. The deceased, Gurmel Singh, was a resident of Rahon Road, Ludhiana.

The deceased farmer’s body was fished out from the river near Setiana village on late Monday late evening. Before ending his life he called up his father and told him that he is ashamed of wife and does not want to live anymore, Hindustan Times reported.

The Koomkalan police have registered a case against his wife Sandeep Kaur for abetment to suicide.

The deceased had earlier got married in 2007 to some other woman. But, later he got divorced. Then, in 2011 he got married to accused Sandeep Kaur of Kadeyana village. The couple has a six year old son from this marriage.

The police have registered an FIR on the complaint of deceased’s father Baldev Singh. In his compliant, father of deceased said that his son’s relations with his wife Sandeep Kaur got strained due to her infidelity. Sandeep Kaur was living separately on Rahon Road.

On September 5, Gurmel Singh called up his father and said that he is ashamed of his wife and he cannot live. He also said that he does not want that their son to live with his mother. After that Gurmel Singh switched off his mobile phone.

Baldev Singh further added that he along with his relatives started searching for his son. They found his scooter parked near Sutlej River.

Koomkalan SHO Inspector Harjinder Singh said that the body has been fished out from river on late Monday night. The police have booked Sandeep Kaur under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The SHO added that efforts are on for the arrest of the accused.
