Twenty-two children were injured in an accident in Moga when a truck collided with a school van on Thursday. The accident happened due to heavy fog in the morning. This is the second such accident in Moga in three months.
The accident took place near Janed village when the truck tried to overtake the school van and collided with it. The van turned turtle several times and landed on a farm alongside the road.
The 12 seater school van was choc-a-bloc with 35 children. Children of the kindergarten wing of Sacred Heart School were being ferried in the van which was on its way from Kot Ise Khan to Moga.
Out of those injured 11 have been admitted to Amrit hospital, four have been admitted to Kot Ise Khan Hospital and seven have been admitted to Mathuradas Civil Hospital. Three children were just given first aid and discharged.
In October, in a similar accident, four youths were killed and five others injured when the Bolero vehicle in which they were travelling collided with a private bus on the Moga-Barnala highway in this district on Friday night.
Preliminary investigation showed that these youths had gone to a marriage function on the outskirts of Moga. Most of these youths were drunk.
