A Punjab police cop from Moga allegedly shot dead his wife, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law in Moga district on Sunday morning.
He also fired shots at his 10-year-old daughter from his AK-47. The injured daughter is under treatment in a government hospital.
The dead are identified as Rajwinder Kaur (wife), Jaskaran Singh (brother-in-law), Inderjit Kaur (sister-in-law) and Sukhwinder Kaur (mother-in-law), a police official said.
The incident took place at Said Jalalpur village in Dharamkot, Moga. Accused is Kulwinder Singh. He was in the anti-riot squad. He was heading the tear gas unit of the local police.
After shooting dead his relatives and wife, Singh surrendered before the police. Police have also recovered his service rifle.
Investigations reveal that Singh had a dispute with his wife and her family.
This was his second marriage. His wife and daughter had gone to her parent’s house in Said Jalalpur village a few days back. Singh went there and fired bullet at the family.
Police have taken the bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem.
