The Hush Post: It is an awakening call for the prevailing education system in Punjab. A college student was shot after he failed to pass on a chit meant for cheating in the exam in a Moga college. A student of BA (Ist year) was shot at by goons called in by another student inside the college premises in Moga.
The injured student, Harjit Singh from Guru Nanak College, Moga, picked up a quarrel with another student Gurpreet Singh Gora for not being able to pass on the chit, meant for cheating in the English exam. The chit was passed on by another student Jaspal meant for Harjit but landed up near Gurpreet. He, after taking down the notes, threw it away without passing it on to Harjit who in turn got agitated.
After the exam, a spat ensued between the two. Gurpreet rang up a few friends. Two boys from outside the college entered the college premises with arms. Pushing aside the security guard who tried to stop them at the gate, they went straight to Harjit who was standing near the canteen and fired at him with a revolver. The gun shot brushed passed his arm and hit his stomach.
The injured student who belongs to Nidhawala village in Moga was taken to DMC, Ludhiana, where he is struggling for life with a wound in his stomach. The student Gurpreet Singh Gora has been arrested, while a hunt is on for the other two.
Principal of the college Swaranjit Singh has denied any incidence of copying at the college saying the fight may have been due of some other reason.
