The Hush Post: In an early morning operation by Punjab Police, a Jagu Bhagwanpur gang member Sunny Masih was killed and two of his accomplices injured at an encounter with Punjab Police at Shri Naina Devi in Bilaspur. The two injured have been identified as Aman Puri and Goldi Masih.
According to SSP Mohali, the gangsters looted a Verna car near Sohana on a gunpoint in Mohali yesternight. The occupants of the car were on their way to a relative’s place when the gangsters confronted them and told them that they had hit their vehicle. On further intimidation, the occupants of the car were forced to alight and the gangsters immediately got in and vanished with the car.
When the police were informed, they chased them discreetly and ultimately the three gangsters lost out to the police party near Shri Naina Devi. At Shri Naina Devi, unaware that the cops were chasing them, they parked the car at a hotel. That is when they saw cops behind them. In a kneejerk reaction, they fired at the police party. The police returned the fire in which Sunny Masih immediately collapsed while two of his accomplices Aman and Goldie were injured.
Sunny Masih is from Gurdaspur while Aman is from Chamkaur Sahib and Goldie belongs to Dera Baba Nanak. Some cops of the Punjab Police also received injuries and are under treatment.
At present the two gangsters Goldie and Aman are in custody of Himachal Police and they will shortly be brought to Mohali by the Punjab Police after completing the formalities.
As a result of this encounter, the route from Naina Devi to its bus stand has been closed and the pilgrims on their way to Naina Devi are facing a lot of hardship.
