The Hush Post: A complaint has been filed in a court in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur against cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu for getting an FIR of sedition registered against him over his hugging Pakistan’s army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
A criminal complaint has been filed against Sidhu by a lawyer in Muzaffarpur. The court has fixed August 24 for hearing on this complaint.
Notably, Sidhu had courted controversy when he had hugged Pakistan’s army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa during the swearing-in ceremony of Imran Khan as Pakistan’s prime minister on Saturday.
At Imran Khan’s oath-taking ceremony, Sidhu was seated next to the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) “President” Masood Khan. And just before the ceremony, Sidhu hugged Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Sidhu was widely criticised for this act of him. While Sidhu’s previous party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongly condemned him, his present party Congress completely dissociated itself saying that Sidhu had gone to Pakistan in his personal capacity.
On Sunday, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh also criticised Sidhu’s hug to the Pakistan army chief.
