The Hush Post: AAP’s Dakha MLA HS Phoolka has said that former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and former Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal should be booked and criminal proceedings should be started against the two since their names have clearly come up in the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission which inquired into the incidents of sacrilege and subsequent police firing. Notably, as per the commission, then DGP and chief minister of Punjab both were aware of the police firing on October 14 two days after the incident of desecration took place.
He has urged the chief minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh to take action urgently against the two.
Apart from that, he has asked local bodies minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal and another cabinet minister Tript Bajwa to press for it.
Phoolka has threatened if criminal proceedings are not started against these two, he will resign as MLA from Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
Of late, Phoolka has been lying low in politics but remains committed to the cause of Sikhs. He has been at the fore-front asking for free and fair investigation which looked into the issue of sacrilege.
There was a desecration incident of Guru Granth Sahib in 2015 which led to protests that took place in Punjab in October 2015. The first incident of desecration was reported from Bargari, Faridkot. On the early morning hours of 14 October, two days after the incident two protesters died during an unprovoked firing by the police forces, while they were sitting in on a peaceful protest.
Justice Ranjit Singh Commission has laid bare the incident and subsequently the role played by the police and the government.
