Punjab cabinet expansion: Out of 12 names, the following could find berth in Punjab cabinet

Capt Amarinder Singh

The Hush Post: While the meeting between Captain Amarinder Singh and Rahul Gandhi is likely scheduled, lets look at who are the front runners for a cabinet berth in Punjab. There is a possibility that in the cabinet expansion, either two or one of the three of them from Ludhiana could well be on their way to becoming ministers.

Rakesh Pandey, from Ludhiana North

Surinder Dawar from Ludhiana Central

Bharat Bhushan Ashu from Ludhiana West.

Raj Kumar Verka, the Amritsar West MLA could be the Dalit representative in the cabinet.

Apart from Verka, two names from Majha doing the rounds are of Sukhjinder Randhawa and five-time MLA OP Soni. Sukh Sarkaria, a CM loyalist, too represents a Jat Sikh-dominated, seat of Raja Sansi.

Among the younger lot, Fatehgarh Sahib legislator Kuljit Singh Nagra is also in the race.

However, there is little common ground the high command of the Congress and Capt Amarinder share on the names of Indian Youth Congress president and Gidderbaha MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and Sangrur legislator Vijay Inder Singla, though the latter is known to be close to Rahul and is a Hindu face. After all, the CM is keen to have his loyalist Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi back.

From Doaba, Sangat Singh Gilzian is a frontrunner on the basis of seniority and little to no opposition.
