A 21-year-old youth from Punjab was found hanging from a tree in Toronto, Canada, on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Vishal Sharma from Nabha, Punjab. He was found hanging from a tree outside his home in Toronto.
Vishal was in Toronto to pursue a course in hotel management. The Canadian police have conveyed the news of Vishal’s death to his father Naresh Sharma. The police have assured Sharma of a fair probe into the matter.
Naresh Sharma is a clerk in the state education department and he had taken a loan of Rs 8 lakh to send his son abroad.
The police are clueless on whether Vishal’s death is a murder or suicide. The police have told Sharma that they will report the findings to the family within three days.
Meanwhile, Vishal’s family suspects that it is a murder since the body was hanging “too high.”
“He had no reasons to commit suicide and why would he commit it outside the house?” Hindustan Times quoted Jaswinder Kumar, uncle of the deceased, as saying.
Vishal had come to India in July to attend a marriage and was in Nabha for around two months. The family says that he was happy in Toronto.
“We had a telephonic conversation with him on Saturday and even on Sunday, he talked to his cousins and everything was fine. We don’t know what happened,” Naresh Sharma said. Sharma has made an appeal to the government to help bring back his body for cremation.
It is reported that Vishal shared an apartment with another Nabha youth.
