Racial attack on Punjabi youth in US, victim battling for life in Cincinnati hospital for 5 days

Kapurthala’s Jaspreet had gone to the US eight years back and was living in Cincinnati with his wife Sajpreet Kaur and four kids.

The Hush Post: In another lethal incident of racial violence against Indians living abroad, a Punjabi youth was shot at by an American man in Ohio’s Cincinnati city. The victim, Jaspreet Singh Uppal from Nadala village in Kapurthala, is battling for life in a hospital for the past five days. The police have arrested the attacker.

The information first reached Jaspreet’s brother-in-law Jung Bahadur Singh Sodhi, a resident of Paswal.  Sodhi said that the incident took place five days back when Jaspreet was taking a stroll outside his residence in Cincinnati at around 10pm.  An African-American man came out of nowhere and shot at Jaspreet, he said. Deeply injured, Jaspreet was immediately rushed to the hospital where his condition is said to be critical.     

Jaspreet had gone to the US eight years back and was living in Cincinnati with his wife Sajpreet Kaur and four kids. As per reports, the Hamilton Police have arrested the attacker and recovered the pistol used in the crime from him.
