A day-long protest which was organized by different groups representing Ravidas Community continued on day two. These groups are protesting against the demolition of the Ravidas Temple in Tughlaqabad area of Delhi.
However, the members have also given a call for Punjab Bandh on August 13.
Under the banner of Sarva Samaj Sangharsh Committee, various organizations and political leaders from SAD and AAP gathered at Ravidas Chowk in Jalandhar in order to support the community.
Vehicles’ tyres and wooden doors were set afire by the protesters. President of Sarva Samaj Sangharsh Committee Jagdish Disha reportedly said that the government had to accept the resolution to give the same land to Gurudwara Committee in Tughlaqabad in Delhi to reconstruct the temple.
However, SAD party leader Set Satpal said that the party was in full support of the Ravidas community in the protest.
The district AAP president Jalandhar, Shiv Dayal Mali said that this was not a political issue and neither the political leaders should use it for their personal benefits. He reportedly said that this was a social issue and people from all the regions are standing against the act of sacrilege.
