Punjab man forced to drink urine after having tied him to pillar

A 38-year-old Dalit man was tied, beaten and then forced to drink urine in Sangrur district of Punjab on Friday. The dispute arose because of an old rivalry.

The victim, who is a resident of Changaliwala village in Sangrur had a dispute with a certain Rinku. He told police that on November 7, Rinku called him to his house where he talked about the dispute.

Meanwhile, Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has also sought a report from Senior Superintendent of Police, Sangrur. As per a news report, the Chairperson Tejinder Kaur said the commission came to know about the incident through media reports and took suo motto cognisance and sought the report.

Police said four persons have been booked for wrongful confinement, abduction and under various other sections of the IPC, and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at the Lehra police station.
