The Hush Post: The Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh has announced that all schools will remain closed on September 25, Tuesday.
Punjab has declared red alert due to continuous rainfall which is wreaking havoc in the region. It has been raining heavily in Punjab for the past two to three days.
Disaster Control Rooms have been activated. Disaster management teams have been told to remain on standby in case of any emergency. As per reports, the army has also been told to be on standby. Equipment to drain out flood waters are also being arranged. Heavy rains have been forecast at isolated places in the region during the next 48 hours.
Two days of heavy and continuous rainfall has thrown Punjab, Haryana and Himachal into chaos. In Himachal, Beas river is in full spate, leading to floods in various parts of the state. Road networks have been disrupted in various parts of Himachal, resulting in traffic jams. The state experienced heavy to extremely heavy rains, causing major landslides and blocking highways and link roads.
Heavy landslides hit vehicular movement on the Chandigarh-Manali highway beyond Mandi town and on the Pathankot-Chamba highway. However, there was no loss of life.
