The Hush Post: Six Sikh youths from Punjab who did not have documents while in the US have been freed.
The five of them have been identified as Karandeep Singh, Lovepreet Singh, Harjinder Singh, Kanwarjeet Singh and Lovepreet Singh. They were released on August 21 on immigration bonds. The identity of the sixth youth has not been ascertained.
The six of them had a difficult time after they were detained in a federal detention centre (FDC) in Oregon since June.
They were detained for entering the United States from the Mexican side of the border. They walked out of the detention centre on August 20 and 21. All of them were seeking asylum in the United States owing to political persecution and were detained at the federal detention facility in Sheridan.
