Attack on Sukhbir Badal convoy: 35 people booked in Sangrur

The Hush Post: The Punjab Police has booked 35 persons for attacking the convoy of former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and Jalalabad MLA Sukhbir Singh Badal. Badal was on his way to Patiala. While on his way, his cavalcade was attacked by a crowd. They attacked his car with sticks, and hurled shoes at the convoy. Those who were involved were members of the radical Sikh organisations. Activists of the Granthi Sabha and Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) were opposing junior Badal’s visit to Gurdwara Nanakiana Sahib. The gurdwara is located on the outskirts of Sangrur town.

The police have booked two persons by name – Bachitar Singh and Amar Singh. Apart from them, 33 others too have been booked. Earlier when the attack took place, the SAD (B) had also organised a press conference condemning the action and demanding stern action.

Those accused of the crime have been booked under Section 341, 148, 149, 427 and 352 of the Indian Penal Code.
