The Hush Post: Sukhbir Singh Badal the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president said he is ready to step down as the SAD(B) president if the party so wishes as per a news report in The Hindustan Times.
Sukhbir responded to a question on the banner of revolt raised by veteran SAD leaders from the Majha region.
“I’m leading the party on its direction. I’m duty bound to do whatever the party asks me to do. If it demands my resignation, I am ready for it,” Sukhbir said.
Sukhbir paid a visit to the Golden Temple on Sunday. Later, he visited dissident SAD leader Bhai Manjit Singh at his residence along with Majitha MLA Bikram Singh Majithia.
Earlier, veteran leader and Lok Sabha MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura resigned from all party positions on health grounds.
The Khadoor Sahib MP was the second leader to quit from SAD(B) party positions within a month after Rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Dhindsa resigned as party secretary-general. Dhindsa also resigned on grounds of failing health.
