Punjab Police is on high alert after receiving inputs that Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists might be hiding in the state. Now, it has come to light that Al-Qaeda commander Zakir Moosa too could be hiding in Punjab. Posters of Moosa, the Kashmir unit chief of Al-Qaeda, were put up in several places in the state on Friday.
There are inputs that he and several JeM terrorists have entered the state through Ferozepur. “We had inputs that some Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists have infiltrated in Punjab through Ferozpur,” Gurdaspur SSP Swarandeep Singh told news agency ANI.
Swarandeep added that there have been specific inputs about Moosa’s movements near Amritsar. “We have released wanted posters of him to make public aware,” he said.
Moosa heads the terrorist outfit Ansar Gazwat ul Hind. He is in-charge of sending recruits to J&K.
Moosa had reportedly joined Al-Qaeda after having a fallout with Hizbul Mujahideen. He is one of the most wanted terrorists in J&K.
On Thursday, about six to seven Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists may have entered Punjab and could be on their way to Delhi. After the alert in Punjab, Delhi police is on high alert.
On Tuesday night, four persons had snatched an SUV from its driver at gunpoint near Madhopur area in Pathankot. “The occupants snatched the vehicle from the driver at gunpoint,” the police said.
