Ambani’s lawyer Rakesh Parikh told news agency PTI that the Group has intimated the defendants about its intentions.

Defending lawyer PS Champaneri confirmed that the Reliance Group’s counsel has received the instruction from his client.

The court resumes after summer vacation and it is only then when the suits will be formally withdrawn.

Notably, Reliance Defence- a part of the Reliance Group had filed defamation suits against Congress leaders Sunil Jakhar, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Ommen Chandi, Ashok Chavan, Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Sanjay Nirupam. Besides, the cases were also filed against National Herald newpaper and some other journalists.

National Herald had published an article titled ‘Anil Ambani floated Reliance Defence 10 days before Modi announced Rafale deal’. Anil Ambani’s counsel had termed the article “misleading” which conveyed a “negative image” of his client.
