An Army jawan has been arrested by the Rajasthan Police. He has been arrested in connection with charges of espionage in Jaisalmer. He was apprehended and interrogated by intelligence agencies for close to four months after he was found to be in touch with Pakistani ISI operatives on social media.

As per a report in The Quint, Defence PRO Col Sambit Ghosh told news agency ANI that the Army is providing all possible assistance to the police authorities in the investigation related to the matter. A couple of days ago, a porter in Tinsukia was arrested for allegedly passing on sensitive information to the Pakistan intelligence agencies.

The accused was identified as Nirmal Rai, a resident of Ambikapur village in Tinsukia.

He was employed as a porter for the army at Arunachal Pradesh’s Anjaw since October 2018.

“Military Intelligence officials took the man into custody for passing sensitive military information to Pakistani handlers in Dubai. He came in contact with Pakistani intelligence operatives while working at a burger shop in Dubai,” a highly placed officer of the military intelligence said.
