A case was filed against rally driver Gaurav Gill and one more driver on Sunday as a young couple and their son were killed in an accident during a National Rally Championship race. The National Rally Championship was held in Barmer, Rajasthan where the incident took place.

According to the reports, companies like Mahindra, JK Tyres, MRF Tyres, and also the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India have been named in the FIR.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Barmer) Khinv Singh reportedly informed that the FIR was lodged at 2 am on Sunday at Samdari police station following a complaint by the deceased’s elder son Rahul.

The complainant claimed that his parents were standing on the roadside with a motorcycle and were talking to his younger brother. Gaurav’s car hit them and two other cars coming from behind crushed them.

The police officials said that Gaurav Gill and another driver M Sharif were charged for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

The bodies of the deceased were lying on the spot as the family members and the villagers asked for compensation, the arrest of the accused and a government job to kin.

SHO of Samdari Police Station reportedly said, “The stalemate is continuing. Efforts are being made to end it but the organizers of the rally are not co-operating. Since yesterday, the villagers are demanding the organizers to come to the spot but they are not responding.”

The reports say that the internal roads of some of the villages were used as the track of the rally. The complainant alleged that there were no proper safety and security arrangements on the track. However, Barmer’s Superintendent of Police Shivraj Meena said that sufficient measures were taken for the rally.
