The Hush Post: Some SUV-bore gangsters shot dead two Rajasthan police officials in Sikar district of the state. The criminals killed Fatehpur police station in-charge Mukesh Kanungo and constable Ram Prakash while they were chasing the gangsters.

Inspector Mukesh Kanungo and constable Ram Prakash were chasing an SUV that sped past a barricade. The incident occurred near Beswa village under Fatehpur police station in Sikar district on late Saturday, a report said.

SP of Sikar Pradeep Mohan Sharma confirmed this news.

The two cops were on “routine duty” at the check post on Saturday night. At the barricade, one Ajay Chaudhary and four of his associates approached in a sports utility vehicle (SUV), SP Sharma said.

The cops signalled the vehicle to stop. The SUV slowed down momentarily and then sped past the check post, prompting the cops to chase them.

Then, the SUV occupants opened fire at the police vehicle, killing the inspector and the constable, the report said.

The police have launched search operations in Sikar, Jhunjhunu and Churu districts to arrest the suspects.

A police official said, “Ajay Chaudhary and his aides have past criminal records.”

The police handed over the bodies of the two dead cops to their families after post mortem. The police will cremate the dead policemen with state honours, the report said.
