Jaipur princess and BJP MLA Diya Kumari has filed for divorce from Narendra Singh Rajawat after 21 years of their marriage. According to news reports, Diya and her husband Narendra Singh Rajawat have been living separately for a few months. Both have agreed to approach the court for mutual separation.
Narendra Singh belongs to a modest family and had married Jaipur princess in 1997 after nine years of their affair. The couple has two sons and a daughter.
The divorce has been filed at Gandhi Nagar family court under Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act. 47-year-old Diya belongs to Jaipur royal family. She is the daughter of former King Sawai Bhawani Singh and Padmini Devi.
Diya joined politics in 2013. She was elected as a BJP MLA from Sawai Madhopur seat. However, this time round she decided not to contest elections citing personal reasons. But now according to sources BJP is considering her as a Lok Sabha candidate for 2019 battle.
These days Diya is focusing on conservational work at her family heritage City Palace and Jaigarh Fort. The eldest son of the couple Padmanabh Singh was adopted by former king Bhawani Singh as his successor in 2002 and assumed the position on Jaipur ‘gaddi’ on 27 April 2011.
