The Hush Post: Why can’t you wear a pair of jeans and T-shirts to work? It has been termed as wearing “indecent” dresses and according to the Rajasthan Labour department, its employees cannot come to the office wearing jeans and T-shirts. Though, there is widespread criticism from the state’s employees’ federation.
The circular was issued by Labour Commissioner Girriaj Singh Kushwaha on June 21.
As per the circular, it is often seen that some officers/employees come to work in jeans, T-shirts and other indecent dresses which is disrespectful and against the dignity of the office. Therefore, it is expected of all the officers and employees that they, while maintaining the dignity of the office, come to office in decent clothes like pants and shirt.
Justifying the circular, the commissioner said, “It is about maintaining official decorum. I have issued similar directions in the past too.
The officer said that he did not receive any feedback from any employee on the circular.
The President of the All Rajasthan Employees Federation (United), Gajendra Singh, said that they would object to the circular and make a representation to the commissioner asking for its withdrawal.
How jeans and T-shirt can be an indecent or ungraceful outfit? There are no such service rules in the state of Rajasthan, and we will oppose the circular in a democratic manner tooth and nail.
