ICC suspended Ambati Rayudu for wrong bowling action in international cricket on Monday. The Indian player was given an option of getting his suspect action tested in a period of 14 days. On January 13, the middle order batsman was reported in the first ODI against Australia.

“The player decided not to submit a test of his bowling action within the stipulated period of 14 days after being reported for a suspect action. That is the reason, he has been suspended with immediate effect.”, ICC stated.

The suspension was conducted according to the clause 4.2 of ICC regulations. This clause of ICC regulations deals with the legality of bowling actions. But with the consent of BCCI and according to the article 11.5 of ICC regulations, Ambati Rayudu is free to bowl in domestic cricket which is played under BCCI.

The world body stated that the suspension will continue until he passes his bowling action test. Once he fulfils the criteria for a legal action, he would be allowed to bowl again in international cricket.

Ambati Rayudu holds a position of a middle order batsman in the team. He has taken only three wickets so far in his career of 49 one day international matches. He has bowled in just 9 ODI matches and has never bowled in any T20 international.
