Liqour lovers in India are having a hard time during the coronavirus lockdown. Alcohol shops are shut across the country, and there are no signs of them opening soon. However, what happened in Italy, is just what the Indian citizens would die for.
Wine flowed from the taps of Italians on Wednesday, bringing in some levity into the lives of the people in the COVID-19 ravaged nation.
The incident took place in Italy’s Castelvetro where red wine flowed from the house taps of some inhabitants. The incident happened due to a malfunction in a local winery after some 1000 litres of prepared wine accidentally got leaked into water pipes.
According to CNN, a defective valve in the washing circuit of the bottling line in Cantina Settecani winery led to the incident. The wine that got leaked is a local speciality called the Lambrusco Grasparossa.
The malfunction lasted for around three hours and affected some 20 homes. Town’s deput mayor oGiorgia Mezzacqui sadi, “At a time where we have very little to smile about, I’m glad we brought some levity to others. Hopefully someday they’ll remember us and will want to come visit us”.
The local government has clarified that there are no health risks related to the leakage.
“The malfunction was appreciated by many. Some clients in the areas called us to warn us about it, and to share they were bottling the wine!” said Fabrizio Amorotti , the commercial manager of the Cantina Settecani winery.
