The Hush Post: After the school reopened on July 1, Airan Brar, a student of Class VII at Sherwood College, Nainital, and a native of Abul Khurana village near Malout in Muktsar district of Punjab, did not return to school. The school was informed that his leave be extended by a few days.
He was found dead on July 6. There are different theories doing the round as to how he died. According to news reports, some village residents close to the family said the boy did not wish to study in Sherwood, he wanted to study in a residential school near Chandigarh. After the summer break, he was unwilling to return to his school.
The boy’s parents went to drop him to school and halted at a farmhouse in Bajpur, Uttarakhand, on Thursday night. The following morning, a gunshot was heard from the boy’s room.
An ASP posted in Nainital said he had been told a boy had died in a road mishap in Bajpur in Udham Singh Nagar district. However, the SSP of Udham Singh Nagar district told the media no such accident has been reported in his area.
The village residents and relatives were anxious as no one was telling the truth about the incident and everyone had a different story to tell.
The body of the boy was brought to his native village near Malout late Friday evening at 7.30 pm.
The school authorities when inquired about the incident said that his parents had not informed the school about his death.
The boy was the son of brother-in-law of Punjab Cooperation and Jails Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. Airan’s father Ravinder Singh ‘Bubby’ is a Congress leader and his grandfather Nachhatarpal is the ex-president of the District Congress Committee, Muktsar. Airan was the only child of his parents.
