A beauty pageant title holder, Lt Garima Yadav, has broken all the stereotypes and has chosen to serve the nation rather than living a larger than life of modelling and films. She auditioned for a beauty pageant called ‘India’s Miss Charming Face’ and won the title.

She was offered to represent India in a beauty pageant in Italy. However, she enrolled herself with OTA (Officer’s Training Academy) instead of grabbing that opportunity. She performed exceptionally well and cracked the CDS (Combined Defence Services) exam in her very first attempt.

Garima completed her schooling from Army Public School, Dagshai. After that, she completed her graduation from St. Stephens College, New Delhi.

When asked about her experience during her training period, Garima said, “I had a wonderful experience at OTA. At first, it was difficult for me to cope up with the tough training, the weather also was unfavourable. I did not have very good physical standards but somehow, I managed for the first few months. I did not give up and ended up and improved drastically.”

Further, she added, “People have a wrong impression that you have to be good at all sports and physically strong to get selected for the SSB. That’s not true. You should just be willing to accept your weakness. You should always endeavour to get better and better every day.”
