The Haryana BJP chief has been cornered by the opposition ‘for showing no respect to the law’.
The Hush Post: Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala today landed himself amidst a controversy after he posted his video of diving into the Bhakra Canal near Tohana in Fatehabad on the social media. Barala had carried out the act in order to pose a ‘fitness challenge’ to other politicians, bureaucrats and other prominent personalities on the call given by union minister Rajyawardhan Singh Rathore.
In his twitter post, Barala while sharing his video of diving into the canal, said, “A healthy body gives birth to pure thoughts and pure thoughts build a strong country. Hum fit to India fit.” The Haryana BJP chief, however, was cornered by the opposition ‘for showing no respect to the law’.
‘Barala sent a wrong message’
Haryana Congress leader Jaitirath Dahiya alleged that Barala had flouted the norms by diving into the waters of the canal. “Barala could have used a swimming pool instead. This will send a wrong message among the youth as news reports of people drowning in the canal are heard quite often”.
Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader, Parminder Dhull claimed that the “BJP wants to divert attention from real issues and hence its leaders resort to such acts. Diving in the Bhakra canal is prohibited and Barala’s act is illegal”.
“He won’t drown”
Subhash Barala though found some support in form of Haryana cabinet minister Krishna Lal Panwar who pointed out that swimming was a better exercise than working out at the gym. “Barala is spreading awareness regarding the importance of staying fit. Barala is a master in politics, so is he at swimming”, adding, “He won’t drown”.
