The Hush Post: The young turks comprising the U-19 Indian cricket team led by Prithvi Shaw and our own Mohali boy Shubman Gill, have a date to keep with history today. If the team wins today, it will be a record fourth win against Australia.   The team, tutored by former India captain Rahul Dravid, faces an equally formidable Australian team who have taken the trophy home an equal number of three times. India have won all their five matches including an emphatic 203-run win over arch-rivals Pakistan in the semi-final and a 100-run victory over Australia in their tournament-opener. Australian  Captain Jason Sangha won the toss and opted to bat first. Australia openers Jack Edwards and Max Bryant opened the match, India’s Shivam Mavi gave just 1 run off over.

The promising Prithvi Shaw, already being seen as the next big thing in Indian cricket, will join the league of Mohammad Kaif (2002), Virat Kohli (2008) and Unmukt Chand (2012) in leading the side to the U-19 World Cup titles. Dravid’s boys — Shaw and Manjot Kalra — have given the team good starts throughout the tournament, all eyes will be on Fazilka –born Shubman Gill, who has been the most consistent batsman of the tournament.
