The Hush Post: With the top Indian players rested, Dinesh Karthik made 29 of 8 balls to steer India to a last ball win against Bangladesh in the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka to lift the trophy.
In the last three overs India needed 34 runs of 18 balls and that is when Dinesh Karthik came in. The first ball he hit was for a six over a long off. And then came a four and a single. Cut to, the last over and India needed 12 runs to win.
But it all came down to the last ball. And India needed a six to win. Karthik managed to hit the ball over the extra covers for a six and India won the trophy. Earlier, Rohit Sharma made 56 runs and before him Yazuvendra Chahal bowled brilliantly accompanied by Washington Sunder who bowled beautifully throughout the series picking up five wickets in the entire tournament. Karthik, who has been part of the Indian team since 2004, but has been in and out of the team, proved his mettle. Probably, his best moment in international cricket.
